THE McCLANE SAGA CONTINUES….

There’s just never a dull moment when you know Mr. McClane, remember the bank saga last month!!…..It all started  again yesterday at Gatwick airport (London) when he turned up for his flight on the wrong day, luckily there was a seat available on another flight to Sophia, then came the coach journey from Sophia airport to here. John was to catch the Sophia to Ruse coach but get off at Maslarevo where I would pick him up in the car, no matter how John tried to pronounce ”Maslarevo,” to the Bulgarian ear he may aswell have been saying ”Cabbage Please.”

After worried text messages and phone calls  fearing he will be in Bucharest  or Minsk by midnight, fortunately a women got on the coach at Obnova, 40km before ”Maslarevo”  who spoke English and was able to tell the bus driver ”Maslarevo”…..”Oh Maslarevo,” I found John, not at the Maslarevo bus stop but in the centre island of a road junction looking forlorn and abandoned!!

This morning we were all up bright and early to take John to his new house, we noticed straight away however that most of the furniture was missing, there’s no value to this old furniture but it is something to use while you get started with the property renovations. I went off to look for the electric and water meters while John and Linda phoned Damiano from BULGARIADIRECT (The agents who sold the property) to find out what happened to it, had the previous owners taken it or had he been robbed!!

Johns going to buy an estate car next week so we made sure the garage was long enough to take one by parking mine inside.

We called Roony and Nikoli round to cost up putting in an inside toilet and digging a new cesspit etc. A 3 meter jet of water shot across the kitchen when we turned the water meter on, the tap from the kitchen sink was missing 🙂

Two hours later Damiano turned up with his car crammed with furniture to replace what was missing from Johns house, the furniture that Damiano brought was actually better than Johns missing furniture so we all started to care less about the missing items immediately.

Damiano from BULGARIADIRECT with some of the furniture he brought for John, we all liked the cooking range especially!!

Cleaned up and re-painted black this will be a charming feature in any kitchen.

  1. All’s well that ends well, nice oven!!

    • Hi Stan,

Yes indeed, might be a little too much work for John at the moment to bring it back to life, so I might have it instead!!

      Cheers,

      Dave….

  2. What happened to the missing stuff, did you ever find out??

    • Hi Graham,

To be honest we all stopped caring when Damian brought better stuff and didnt pursue it any further but it appears there was a misunderstanding somewhere along the line of what was and wasnt included but no big deal really, Johns happy and thats all that matters.

      Cheers,

      Dave….

  3. I wonder if all the agents in Bulgaria would do that, your friends very lucky except for traveling, oh and banking lol.

    • Hi James,

I’m sure all agents would do that for their clients lol……Cant wait until he buys power tools 🙂

      Cheers,

      Dave….

My wife and I have recently took over my uncles Roy’s house (mad dog) In Maslaravo and were wondering if you still lived in the area. If so we would love to meet up for a coffee and get to know you guys next time we are over.
    Many thanks Catherine and Andrew.

    • Hi Andrew, Yes I still live here in the village, sorry for the long delay in replying, I spend most of my time doing building work now, Turkey with Mad Dog seems another lifetime ago lol.
