Today John and I drove to Ruse near the Romanian border, the shopping is excellent here, I needed to buy a circular saw and John wanted to look around and get an idea of the cost of living here by going to super markets aswell as DIY shops. John is an excellent navigator, it only took 3 attempts to find the correct road where all the shops are…AND we found our way back out of Ruse, first time!!

It was ”Deja vu” for me when John walked around the supermarket, ”Look how cheap this is,” or ”I’d pay 5 times that amount in Turkey.” The highlight of the supermarket trip though was meat at 2.95 Lev a Kilo, one tenth the price in Turkey!!

On our return to the village, we took it in turns to use the rip saw and chop wood with real axe’s.

We beaverd away for a whole half an hour, pleased with our work, we now consider ourselves real farmers, sons of the soil in fact!!
