DAY 17 – UP TO SCOTLAND

Today we rode from Richmond in Yorkshire up to Peebles in Scotland, the weather forecast was for heavy rain, or liqued sunshine as it’s known in Yorkshire, but the Gods smiled up on us today, partial sun.

We took the scenic route up to Scotland through the Dales, our first stop over the border was at a petrol station in search of a “Scotland” sticker for the panniers.

We are both still finding it very cold here in the UK, as I unzipped one of my four jackets in search of my cigarettes and lighter, We noticed the local people walking around in T-shirts and shorts,  basking in   a 10 degree heatwave.

We passed through miles of Christmas Tree farms.

The clouds began to clear and it started to warm up a little.

We passed through a little Scottish village, it still had the old delightful red telephone boxes, ten minutes later we were in Peebles at Cathy’s and George’s house with a welcome cup of Tea and a bacon sarnie, Linda and Cathy have known each other for 26years.

I parked the bike under Georges security cameras, a cold but pleasant ride up to Scotland, we unfortunately didn’t see a single hairy cow or polar bear, its been some 25 years since I have been this far North.
